  • Food scale (optional but helpful)
Step by Step

The Cooking Process

⏱️ Total time: ~2.5 hours, start to freezer
1

Prep & Water Setup

Wash sweet potatoes, apples, and celery. Prepare your roaster, add 4.4 lbs water, and heat to 475°F/MAX until boiling.

2

Cook Quinoa

Rinse 840 g quinoa and add to boiling water. Keep at 475°F. Check at 10, 15, and 20 minutes. Chop sweet potatoes into medium chunks while it cooks.

3

Finish Quinoa

Fluff quinoa with a fork to dry it out. Use a rubber spatula to pull it away from the edges of the pan to prevent sticking.

4

Frozen Vegetables

Lower to 300°F. Add strawberries, then California blend, then peas. Do NOT stir. Cook 20 minutes. Chop apples (medium) and celery (1.5" pieces) while cooking.

5

Temperature Increase

At 20 minutes, stir vegetables once. Increase to 350°F and cook ~10 more minutes until vegetables are soft.

6

Sweet Potatoes

Add chopped sweet potatoes. Keep at 350°F and cook 15 minutes — they need the most cooking time.

7

Fresh Produce

Add chopped apples and celery. Lower to 300°F and cook 15 minutes.

8

Seeds & Oil

Lower to 225°F. Add 454 g flaxseed meal and 454 g chia seeds. Stir well. Then add 14 oz coconut oil and stir thoroughly.

9

Add Beans

Drain and rinse 3 black bean cans (616 g) and 3 garbanzo cans (400 g) together in one strainer. Gently fold into the roaster and stir to combine.

10

Rest & Final Stir

Let everything rest for 10 minutes, then do a final, thorough stir to distribute all ingredients evenly.

11

Cool

Cool at room temperature for 45–60 minutes. Prepare your freezer bags and labels while it cools.

12

Portion & Freeze

Portion into freezer bags at 5 lbs 10 oz (90 oz) each. Remove as much air as possible, seal, label with the cooking date, and freeze.

⚠️ Equipment Safety: Do NOT run your coffee maker or air fryer while the roaster is heating. The roaster draws significant power and using other appliances at the same time will flip your breaker.
